Childhood ➭
Kriemhild is the second daughter of Count Draupnir. Without any land of their own, the Draupnirs reside at Fort Merceus and are fairly known for their wealth, use of family connections to various merchants of importance, and their desired financial investions. The family consists of Count Dankrad, his wife Ute, and their daughters Avila and Kriemhild.
Due to house Draupnir's financial wealth, Kriemhild was able to enjoy an excellent education from an early age on. She is well knowledgeable in all kinds of topics, well mannered and experienced in ballroom dancing, embroidery, fan language and other talents suited for a proper lady. However, despite her parents continuously trying, she was never able to find a fitting suitor like her older sister.
This is due to her inability to express her emotions properly, often scaring the young men with her cold, piercing gaze and her analytic nature away. Even when trying to smile as brightly as her angel-like sister, she would only leave a menacing, terrifying impact on her visitors. Thus, she often spent most of her time alone, devoting her time to her studies on magic and spell development.
During noble gatherings such as balls she became familiar with a couple of noble families and their children. Although Kriemhild preferred to remain in the background to avoid rejection, she did have a couple of interactions with Caspar at the buffet.
Before joining Garreg Mach Monastery she visited the Royal School of Sorcery in Faerghus. This was made possible through her parents' influence, who hoped she would find happiness in her beloved studies. There she occasionally met Mercedes and saw Annette at times, but rarely initiated conversations.

Monastery ➭
When joining the Monastery, she soon earned herself a bad name for her appearance, becoming a bullying victim as people dared others to "enrage the maddened witch", or "stealing from the wicked lady". Despite being uncomfortable with such actions, she doesn't speak up about it, because she thinks such behavior is normal for people her age.
She does express great discomfort about it though, since it reminds her of the pain of being rejected countless times as a child. Many of such incidents lead to her doing everything to appear more friendly, ranging from wearing cute accessories to developing spells to make her cheeks glitter.
She can often be found at the graveyard where she won't be bothered by others, the library where she studies to develop her research, or at the training grounds where she doesn't have to fear setting too much on fire when trying her new spells.
Already as a young child she expressed great interest into reason magic. With the broad variety of reading the library offers, she begins to develop her own spells as a student. Due to her fascination for fiery and explosive spells her studies can be rather one-sided.
Due to the repetitive rejection she already has experienced, she doesn't quite believe love will ever find her. She still is somewhat of a romantic, often dreaming about someone who will take her for who she is and sweep her away.

During the time of Byleth's absence, she found herself faced with the necessity to grow out of her shell and become someone strong, someone who can be relied on. While still having some insecurities, she did mature into an independent and confident woman - although she may be a bit harsh sometimes.
Being feared by her enemies for her magical prowess, she begins accepting the titles as "Hellfire Witch" and embraces the identity she has avoided for so long.
Although she often claims she isn't interested in finding love anymore, she is easily flustered when someone expresses affection towards her. Even simple acts of kindness can trigger her defense mechanism to protect herself from getting attached, which leads to her having somewhat of a harsh and mean attitude.
However, with people she trusts, who give her a feeling of safety, she will express her own appreciation from time to time. This will reveal a softer side about her that simply doesn't want to be hurt anymore after years of rejection.
Due to her logic-based understanding of the world, she doesn't believe in the Goddess. However, she is very open about new ideas and inventions as long as they are efficient and promise a chance for improvement. She doesn't discriminate between nations or classes, to her there are only productive people and "fools".
